The Mount Tom Amateur Repeater Association
A Massachusetts Non-Profit 501-C(3) corporation of amateur radio operators chartered in 1978 covering the Connecticut River Valley in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. The MTARA is a voluntary, non-commercial radio service.

Our Mission:
- To provide and maintain a reliable amateur radio repeater system capable of rendering emergency and safety related communications for communities within the coverage of our repeater system;
- To provide a gathering place and training ground to individuals interested in amateur radio, electronics and emergency communications where they may gain the valuable experience and training needed in emergency situations and public service events, and where they may better explore and enjoy their hobby and its usefulness to the general public;
- To work with other amateurs to foster all facets of amateur radio within an enjoyable and congenial atmosphere;
- To provide the guidance and training necessary to those who are interested in obtaining their amateur radio license and join our active amateur radio community who selflessly serve the public.
Our Vision:
- An amateur radio community united in its resolve to assist the general public;
- An amateur radio community that is prepared and trained to assist local communities, the state and federal government, and private non-profit relief organizations and the general public in a wide variety of circumstances;
- Maintaining an active roster of amateur radio operators in the Connecticut River Valley that are trained, equipped and ready to provide emergency communications on short notice.
Organizations With Whom We Work
The Mount Tom Amateur Repeater Association has working agreements to provide communications support for the following organizations:
- The American Diabetes Association ADA Walk
The public service events listed provide us with a training ground for participants to learn message handling, communications net operations, mission execution, cooperative communications and the sense of accomplishment in the knowledge that our efforts have made an event run more smoothly and safely for the organizers and the participants.
